Week 8 - BBC Radio 4 Extra Newsjack

Classic comedy well worth a listen, even more worth going to see live.

This week I had booked in the calendar for a while having successfully applied for free tickets to the live recording of BBC radio's Newsjack.

Newsjack is a topical news comedy show that anyone can write material for, broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extra, and despite that is actually very funny! It is presented by and stars Justin Edwards, Margaret Cabourn-Smith, Lewis MacLeod, and Pippa Evans who humorously digests the news, views and issues of the week, a radio version of Mock the Week if you will.
It was recorded at the RADA - Royal Academy of Dramatic Art Studios in Central London, or if you believe Justin (who 'failed to get in') - the Royal Academy of Dicking About.

Having been to see the show it is definitely one that I make time to listen to now as it is really good.
I have to say though, as with a lot of things, it's much better live. Even though when you consider the recording is around 45-50 minutes, the funniest half hour of which they cut for the broadcast; being in the audience just adds that something special to it. You also get to see the guys really have fun with some of the sketches which don't make the final cut thanks to the prudish BBC.

So check it out 'live' on Thursdays at 10.30pm, on the iPlayer, which you can find from the Newsjack website where you can also subscribe/download the podcast and listen to the latest episode. Or alternatively go through the BBC audience website and apply for tickets to see the recording, its well worth it for free, and there are still showings available to apply for this season on the BBC Audience Website
